FHI 360 serves more than 70 countries and all U.S. states and territories. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: IT Officer .
Summary of Position:
The IT Officer will coordinate all IT services for the FHI 360 Burundi office. S/he will work with local and global colleagues to coordinate the support and upgrades needed, manage infrastructure, ensure IT security and compliance, and address office needs. The IT Officer will serve as the first line of support for the end user on issues related to desktop computers, laptops, printers, servers, network connectivity, and remote access.
Duties and responsibilities:
IT Infrastructure Management:
- Manage and maintain local IT infrastructure, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and optimized.
- Provides support for computer hardware, software, printers, applications, operating systems, servers, and network devices.
Technical Support/Helpdesk:
- Provide primary technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Work with staff to use the ticketing system and ensure that issues are resolved or escalated in accordance with agreed SLA
Systems Administration:
- Administer computer systems, including operating systems (Windows/Mac) in accordance with FHI360 standards
- Work with Global team for software applications updates including the Antivirus.
- Go through user account lifecycle, following FHI360 standards and procedures.
- Perform software installations on company computers and configure applications as specified.
IT Security and Compliance:
- Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures as relayed by the global team.
- Configure cloud data backups in accordance with our global laid standards.
- Work hand in hand with the regional and Global team to manage security applications and ensure they are up to date.
- Work with local staff members to ensure compliance with relevant local data protection laws and organizational standards as well.
Asset and Vendor Management:
- Maintain a comprehensive inventory of IT hardware and software licenses.
- Coordinate procurement of new equipment and manage relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Ensure SLA adherence by service providers to effectively provide services on agreed standards.
Training, support and Capacity Building:
- Conduct regular training for staff on applications, information security best practices, and new technologies to maximize efficiency and awareness.
- Ability to interact with a broad range of end-users and use various technical resources to provide support.
- Conduct induction sessions for new staff being hired and also clear staff leaving the organization.
Desired knowledge, skills, and attributes:
- Good understanding of Information Technology industry practices.
- Solid knowledge and experience with Ticketing systems and other service tools for incident and operations management.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Windows 11, Office 365, M365 tools, Power BI, Power Platform, Active Directory, and Azure Entra.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors, and prepare reports.
- Ability to influence, motivates, and collaborates with others.
- A willingness to increase knowledge and update skills as required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of staff, individuals from diverse cultures, and the public.
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience
- Fluency in Kirundi and French required, knowledge of English an asset
- Non-governmental organization (NGO) experience preferred.
