  1. BACKGROUND

Burundi Alumni Association is a nonprofit organization that connects and unites all alumni of exchange programs funded by the US government through the US Department of State. The local non-governmental organization was created behind the idea of strengthening togetherness between those laureates for more impact in the community through knowledge and experience sharing. Burundi Alumni Association has three main components :

  • Burundi Alumni Center : here is where alumni and experts in various areas share knowledge via training sessions, workshops, conferences, etc. The center has coworking spaces that benefits youths who do not afford to rent offices for their initiatives. The coworking spaces are equiped with computers, internet connection as well as books and journals.
  • Burundi Alumni Association Media : This is a Press Group where we showcase alumni’s achievements, train people on different skills, gather leaders to speak to the community, just to name a few. The press group has an online television, YouToube, X, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn channels.
  • Burundi Alumni Cooperative : for the Burundi Alumni Association to sustain itself, it has to generate funds through different income generative activities led by the alumni inside the Burundi Alumni Center.

  1. POSITIONS UNDER RECRUITMENT

BAA is searching high skilled people with adequate competencies to volunteer for the following positions:

  • Finance and accountancy (1)
  • Journalists (3)
  • Cooperative manager (1)
  • Experienced cook for a restaurant or a bar
  • Waiter/waitress (3)
  • Security and hygiene responsible (1)
  1. PROFILE NEEDED FOR THE OPEN POSITIONS :
  • Finance and accountancy volunteer

General conditions of the function

Title of the position: Finance and accountancy volunteer

Department: Admin and Finance

Direct Supervisor:  Secretary General and Special Envoy of the Executive Committee

Working %: 40 hours a week

Number of Team members to manage: 6.

Position based in: Burundi (Only for nationals).

Type of contract: Limited.

Duration: 6 months renewable on the appreciation basis.

Position to be filled on: August 1, 2024.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage accounts receivable and payable
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports
  • Process payroll and employee benefits
  • Coordinate logistics for events and meetings
  • Manage office supplies and equipment
  • Provide administrative support to staff, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and preparing presentations
  • Assist with human resources tasks, such as onboarding new employees and processing paperwork
  • Manage the organization’s computer systems and networks
  • Ensure that the organization complies with all applicable laws and regulations

JOB PROFILE

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or Bachelor of Accounting or Bachelor of Finance

Professional experience required

  • Bachelor degree in finance, economy, accountancy or other related field. Having a prerequisite experience in an administrative or financial role constitutes an advantage for the applicant.
  • Experience in budget preparation and analysis, accounts receivable and payable, and payroll
  • Experience with administrative management, including office operations, personnel management, and event coordination constitutes an advantage for the applicant.
  • Experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software, and database management software

Working %: 40 hours a week

Number of Team members to manage: 5.

Position based in: Burundi (Only for nationals)

Type of contract: Limited

Duration: 06 months renewable on the appreciation basis.

Position to be filled on: 20 May 2024

Main responsibilities

  • Research, gather, and verifying information for news stories.
  • Conduct interviews, often on-camera, with relevant individuals to gather insights.
  • Write scripts, present news reports,
  • Edit video content.
  • Master how all social media channel’s function and know to feed them with content.
  • Stay updated on current events,
  • Adhere to journalistic ethics,
  • Have ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Have ability of reporting live from the field, hosting programs, and engaging with viewers through various platforms.
  • Collaborate with the creative team,
  • Manage the budget,
  • Ensure the project aligns with the vision of BAA Media.
  • Coordinate with journalists, and other key personnel to bring the project to fruition.
  • Ensure that the organization complies with all applicable laws and regulations

JOB PROFILE

Education / Qualification / Pre-requisites

  • Bachelor of Business Journalism, or Bachelor of communication and related fields. However, candidates with strong experience without a university degree might be eligible.

3.4. Experienced cook for a restaurant or a bar

Roles et responsibilities

  • work closely with the culinary management team to ensure excellent culinary standards and improve the overall dining experience for our customers.
  • Master culinary administration, encompassing inventory management and financial oversight
  • Ensure all engredients are appropriate and lovable to our customers
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies;
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure that all orders are prepared and served in a timely  way.
  • Ensure that hygiene standards are upheld
  • Organize and delegate tasks in the kitchen.
  • Waiter / waitress (3)

  • Welcome and prepare seats for guests,
  • Take guest orders,
  • Communicate the guests effectively to the kitchen
  • Memorize the menu and offer recommendations to upsell appetizers, desserts, or drinks.
